Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 · Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen

Visit the Hassan II Mosque on the ocean front, then the capital Rabat with the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower. Continue north into the Rif mountains to the blue town of Chefchaouen.

Overnight: Chefchaouen

Day 2 · Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

Morning in Chefchaouen, then drive to the Roman ruins of Volubilis and their remarkable mosaics. Continue to the imperial city of Meknes, with the monumental Bab Mansour gate and the royal stables, before arriving in Fes.

Day 3 · Fes: the medieval medina

A guided tour of Fes el-Bali, the largest car-free medina in the world. Visit the Bou Inania madrasa, the Al-Qarawiyyin mosque and university, the Chouara tannery and the artisans' quarters, the gates of the Royal Palace and the panoramic view from the Merinid tombs.

Day 4 · Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga: night in the desert

Leave Fes through Ifrane and the cedar forests of Azrou, where Barbary macaques live. Cross the Middle Atlas to Midelt and down the Ziz Valley to Merzouga. At sunset ride a camel into the dunes of Erg Chebbi to your camp for dinner under the stars.

Overnight: Sahara desert camp

Day 5 · A full day in the Sahara

Wake up early for sunrise over the dunes. Explore the area around Erg Chebbi by 4×4: the village of Khamlia and its Gnawa music, a nomad family, the old mines and the seasonal lake. Free time for optional quads, buggies or sandboarding, then a second night at the camp.

Overnight: Sahara desert camp

Day 6 · Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Sunrise over the dunes and camel ride back. Visit Rissani, then drive to the Todra Gorge for a walk between its towering cliffs. Continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley.

Overnight: Dades Valley

Day 7 · Dades – Ouarzazate – Aït Benhaddou – Marrakech

Drive through the Valley of Roses and the Skoura oasis to Ouarzazate. Visit the ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO site, then cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Marrakech, where your private trip ends.
